More photos from Grand Manan...

The picture above was taken from Swallowtail Lighthouse, in North Harbour. If you look closely at the bottom of the picture, you can see the head of a harbour seal who was fishing just outside the weir.

Cat in a Box

My cat loves cardboard boxes (well, actually, boxes and bags of all sorts...anything he can climb into work just fine for him). Not only does he like to hide in them, climb in them, etc. he also has a strange habit of eating them.

First attempt at photographing lightning.

After the power going out while at the grocery store, we rushed to get home and not miss the storm. Set-up was a little rushed...
Luckily, there was hardly any rain with last night's storm, which made it easy to just throw the camera out on the front step.

For my dad: one of his favorite places to eat in New Brunswick, I believe. Anyone who has had any of their seafood will probably agree that it is the best seafood in North America, hands down.

I finally had the guts today to go look at the old house in Mactaquac, where my family lived through most of my first 18 or so years. I had wanted to see it for quite some time but was always a little scared, fearing that it had fallen into a state of disrepair...it's not quite that bad from the outside, anyway, but it definitely looked a little more unkempt than I ever remember it.

We stayed just for a few seconds (long enough for me to take a shot or two on my camera), but I really want to go back...I would love to ask the current owners if I could look inside, but I think that might be a bit much...and it's probably so different from when we lived there that I don't want to see it.

I always feel lucky to catch a rainbow with a camera. This one appeared while crossing from mainland New Brunswick to the island of Grand Manan in the Bay of Fundy. While we didn't see any whales on the crossing, the rainbow was good enough for me.

The next photo was shot from our campsite in Grand Manan at Hole In The Wall Campground . The night before I had planned to get up early enough to take a series of photos of the sunrise, but had some serious problems getting to sleep due to the lack of background noise. So, when I awoke in the morning startled at the time, I jumped out of the tent and hoped that I wasn't too late to catch the sunrise.

Our campsite in Grand Manan, over-looking the Bay of Fundy. The photo doesn't really do them much justice, but just on the other side of the tent are quite sheer cliffs that fall downward to the Bay. In the far distance you can see Swallowtail lighthouse on an outcropping of rocks.

One of the best church signs I've seen in a while:
